Last FRIDAY ASTRO inactive my account. The reason given is, I am using old ASTRO Max decoder. They want me to change to new Astro Byond PVR. FYI, since last year, Astro has sent 2 letter over to me regarding their Astro Byond PVR Offers. 1st letter they request me to change my decoder for free (include installation) + 1 year free PVR services (save RM10X12 month). I did not do anything because doesn’t plan to use neither plasma, lcd nor LED Tv yet.. After few month, another letter came and the offer is better. They plan to give me 2 years of free PVR service if I am willing to change my Astro Max decoder. On top of that they mentioned that my Astro max will soon inactive and I will face the problem if anything happened in near future. What the F@#K….?
My question is WHY I need to change even my ASTRO MAX still in good condition and it is FREE RECORDING. If I change to new Byond PVR, I need to pay extra RM10 just for recording purpose & plus some more RM20 for Byond HD service.
TO ME THIS IS TOTALLY WRONG. For that reason I called Astro Customer service and F@#K them through the phone. After 15 minutes “MAKI HAMUN” them, then my Astro back to normal in just less than 20 minutes. I asked the Customer Service girl to call me back by hook or by crook.
At first she mentioned my Astro MAX is out dated and she cannot activated the account unless I plan to change to new Byond PVR. I asked her why she did this, even my Astro Max is problem, I still can use backup decoder (old decoder). Then she asked me the serial number for backup decoder. I asked her, Why you need to know all of this. To me it is simple, I am a good payor and I deserve my service (fyi for the last 8 years with Astro, I pay the bill as schedule). On top of that, my current smart card is universal compare to new Byond Smart Card which is limited to owner’s Byond decoder only. i can use anywhere anytime with others Astro Decoder. I mentioned to her, If my astro is not back to normal, I will report this to Customer Complaining Tribunal Bureau and I will list her name as one of the subject. I asked her again, Do you still want to work with astro? (she quiet). I asked her loudly through phone.. DO YOU STILL WANT TO WORK WITH ASTRO? Then she answer yes. No..I replied. Answer my question in full word. Then she replied with YES I STILL WANT TO WORK WITH ASTRO. then I asked her, if you want to work here, Do your job now. Active back my account. After 15 minute hang off my phone, my astro is back to normal.
Tips to my blog reader, if you call the Customer Service, ask their name first (properly ask) before you make an action against them.
There are few reason I am NOT CHANGING TO NEW BYOND PVR.
1st – They want me to change to new PVR recorder which is soon I need to add extra RM10 to my monthly bill statement. I am not ready for this because my Astro MAX still good condition and it is free recording.
2nd – They said this Astro MAX service will soon eliminated. Hey ASSTRO guys…….. To me this kind of bullshit reason.
3rd – Current GOLD SMART CARD is very smart compare to BYOND SMART CARD. The reason is, by using my current Gold Smart Card it is universal with any astro decoder. But for new Byond or Byond PVR the smart card is limited to the owner’s Byond/PVR Byond decoder only. Cannot be share with other Byond Decoder.
4th - I am using OLD TUBE TV.. Not LCD/LED/PLASMA tv lorrrr. No reason watching my ASSTRO channel in HD, SD is enough.
To all ASTRO customer out there… WE HAVE OUR RIGHT.. Because we pay for the SERVICE… BEWARE because I believe soon they will sent letter out and ask us to change the decoder to new one. THEY ONLY WANT OUR MONEY and don’t be stupid following their order.
